cartesian coordinate questions

Type of activity: Journal

Location: Anywhere

Materials: Journal / Pen

Length 15-20 minutes

Cartesian coordinate questions help you reflect on a decision by exploring all the possible outcomes. They achieve this through helping you understand your motivations behind choosing or not choosing to do something.

Use your journal to reflect on the following questions, replacing X with the thing you are making the decision on or the thing you want to change. Read the questions carefully as they are similar, yet importantly different. Even when you have answered the question see if you can expand on your answer by asking yourself what else?

  1. What would happen if X did happen?

  2. What would happen if X didn't happen?

  3. What wouldn't happen if X did happen?

  4. What wouldn't happen if X didn't happen?

Or

  1. What would happen if I did stop X?

  2. What would happen if I didn't stop X?

  3. What wouldn't happen if I did stop X?

  4. What wouldn't happen if I didn't stop X?
